GoodNews

Wow, where do I start?  How about, “I was once lost, but now I’m found.  ‘Was blind, but now I see”?  Sometimes I wonder how people make it through life without having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Life is a roller coaster.  How do people make it through their battles and struggles without being able to call on God?

All I know is that I am a child of God.  (John 1:12)  I know God will always be there and will never forsake me.  When I get stressed out with school work and To-Do lists, I just put everything aside and remind myself that none of this is really going to matter one day.  In the Bible, our life is compared to a vapor (James 4:14).  I know that all that is going to matter is one life-changing experience I had years ago: when I admitted to God that I was a sinner and that I believed he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to save my soul.  He conquered death so that I could have life!  (John 3:16!)

I strongly believe in the Great Commission.  “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:19-20)  I try to show Christ in everything I do.  And when opportunities arise, I love telling people the Good News!

Furthering my relationship with God is my top priority.  It was when I got involved at the Baptist Student Union at Mississippi State that I really began to grow spiritually.  Now I really look forward to going to church and cannot imagine being anywhere else come Sundays.  (As well as other days of the week when something is going on!)  Bible study with one’s self and with other believers is also extremely important. (Hebrews 10:25)  On top of that, one of the reasons I choose to devote time to God is that I want to be a godly husband and be able to be a strong Christian leader for my family one day.

If you can’t tell, I think knowing scripture is important for followers of Jesus Christ.  I hope to eventually have a page of some of my favorite verses.  But for now, I will leave you with the very first verses I remember learning: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6.

Please let me know if you would like to know more about how to become a Christian, if you just want to talk believer-to-believer, or if I can pray for you.

God bless!
